We all contributed to the project equally, including brainstorming, wireframing and prototyping.
Solution
We brainstormed and discussed the idea the first hour and a half, discussing the plan and sketching out ideas and decided to come up with an app that acts as a platform for students to collaborate with peers for discussing assignments, seeking help or guidance from mentors. The students would also be able to check their assignments for plagiarism. Shortly after we designed the User Task Flow for the app with low detail wireframes.
Project Type
UX and UI Design Competition
Output
Interactive Prototype on Adobe XD

4 Hours
Introduction
Adobe organized a creative jam targeted towards UX/UI Design students in November 2019 for colleges in Ontario. With a total of 9 colleges and over 88 teams, there were over 400 participants. We were given a quick walkthrough of Adobe XD at around 7pm followed by the design brief at 8pm. The project was due 4 hours later, i.e. 12.00am.

Our Solution
With the increasing academic pressure on students in today’s times, as a result many of them resort to shortcuts for completing their assignments. Our solution presented a simple approach that promotes peer engagement to facilitate learning and accelerate academic progress.
The app also promotes group work by facilitating communication through public chat rooms and private messaging features for students to connect with their peers and/or mentors. To educate students about the importance of referencing, researching and proper attribution, the solution presents students with quizzes to gamify the learning experience. The gamification would function in the following ways:
Whenever students start a new assignment, they are presented with a simple multiple choice question quiz to test their knowledge and educate them about the subjects as well as best practices.
It would reward mentors for helping and supporting peers and all students for actively engaging in discussion boards, motivating them to compete for points and unlock rewards.
The Collabroom App
Collabroom is an interactive mobile application that promotes participation and collaboration between students to support their academic progress and educate them about academic integrity. The app platform would allow teachers to publish assignments, instructions and the rubric with expectations from students. The students would be able to log in using their college credentials to join their specific class channels to access assignments, resources and learning material.
Before commencing any assignments, they would be presented with an onboarding quiz to ensure that they have sufficient knowledge to complete the assignment. Once they submit the assignment, the plagiarism checking feature would check their assignments and caution them for any issues along with recommendations for making improvements before submitting it.
